SUSTAINABILITY
LONGEVITY
At D&A Binder, we have long been committed to manufacturing only the finest sustainable furniture. This is a cornerstone of our business. All of our pieces are designed to look timeless and are made to the highest standards of quality with longevity in mind. We believe that furniture made from timber should have a lifespan equal to or longer than the time it takes for replacement trees to reach a harvestable size – not only for the good of the planet, but because our clients demand elegance that lasts for generations.
SOURCES
When sourcing raw materials, we take care to work with responsibly managed forests that have been PES and FSC accredited – meaning that they follow strict environmental, social and economic guidelines. We have long-standing relationships with our timber suppliers and can trust that our oak and mahogany come from reputable sources. Working primarily with wood also means that we are able to minimise production waste, and any offcuts that are produced are reusable and 100% biodegradable.
REGENERAGTION
We are proud to play a part in promoting a more sustainable approach to interior design by sourcing and restoring antique pieces. As we have been in the antiques trade since 1976, we have formed close relationships with auction houses, high-end stores and antique fairs: we are well-known and often called upon in the event of shop closures which allows us to find the best materials to restore, recycle and reuse. As well as regenerating whole pieces, we also strive to find ways of using reclaimed materials to create new furniture: in the hands of our inventive team, a mahogany wardrobe might find a new life as a kitchen island, for example, or a haberdashery unit might be transformed into an elegant counter – all without wasting high-quality timber.
OUR FOCUS
Our commitment to keeping timber manufacturing within the UK allows us to reduce the carbon footprint of each product. When it is time to deliver our perfected pieces, we strive to minimise the amount of packaging used, opting for blanket-wrapped delivery wherever possible to avoid the use of non-biodegradable materials.
